Tamara came to us after the death of her parents, wanting help to recognize the assets she had and to feel she understood them and could control them.  She wanted to retire sooner rather than later, but wasn’t sure if she had enough to live comfortably.  She also wanted a plan for what to do with the money her parents had left her, because the insurance paperwork was overwhelming.  She hoped to leave a significant estate to her loved ones.  
 
We helped her wade through and file the insurance paperwork, determine that she could retire if she refinanced her mortgage and made some changes to her expenditures.  She wanted us to manage her investments, but we wanted her to be sure that she could live on her retirement funds alone first.  
 
While she was waiting to retire, she visited two local banks, where they tried to sell her annuities that weren’t appropriate for her situation.  We were happy to manage her investments without selling her anything other than our expertise and our concern for what was best for her.
